Monster Lairs: Find, Summon & Neutralize

Approach a suspected lair before assuming its map marker is missing. Since .205, lairs are discovered within 30 m. Small habitats no longer respawn on their own; large lairs use waves and a device you must set up and defend.

At a glance

  • An undiscovered lair is not necessarily absent: come closer than 30 m to reveal its marker.
  • A discovered lair stays marked until the raid ends or it is neutralized.
  • Small habitats use an Active Matter summon rift. Large lairs use waves and a neutralization device.

Reveal the lair and read the map

  1. Choose the location and subtype required by your objective. Isolated and Open are separate choices; .208 remembers the last selection.
  2. Approach the suspected habitat with a safe retreat route. In .205, the lair appears on the map when you come closer than 30 m; it remains until neutralized or the raid ends.
  3. Enter interactive map mode to read zone names. Hover over loot zones for their item list; the border color indicates the rarest possible loot, not guaranteed drops.

Small habitat: use the summon rift

Update .192 removes automatic respawns from small habitats. A nearby rift lets you summon monsters for Active Matter. Clear the immediate area, inspect the current interaction and cost, then choose whether another fight serves your objective. Waiting alone does not restore the old loop.

The notes do not establish one cost or one monster count for every rift. Keep ammunition and medicine for extraction rather than spending everything on another summon.

Large lair: defend the neutralization device

  1. Prepare for enemies spawning less often and in waves under .192. Keep a retreat route before starting.
  2. Set up the neutralization device and defend it until it triggers. If it is destroyed, attacks resume. Do not treat placing it as completing the process.
  3. Check the device outcome, map and contract tracker separately. .201 restores large concentrations to Isolated Ozernoe, Factory, Shegolskoe (all variations) and Airport; the notes do not promise an identical lair in every raid.
