Investigations: Fix Missing Progress

If an Investigation does not advance, check the active contract, its exact objective, and your equipment selection before repeating the raid. Provided Equipment raids do not count toward Investigation progress. Extended Choice now asks you to collect a marked item.

At a glance

  • Deploy with your own equipment for Investigation progress. The restriction on Provided Equipment was introduced in update 0.4.0.93.
  • Activate the contract in Investigations before leaving. The September 16 beginner walkthrough reports a maximum of three active Investigations.
  • For Extended Choice, follow the marked-item objective in the current tracker. Update 0.4.0.115 replaced the old extraction-with-Provided-Equipment requirement.

Strength Limit: use Volkov’s Signal Grenade

  1. Select the relevant Strength Limit step and inspect your personal stash for Volkov’s Signal Grenade supplied by .201.
  2. Bring that specific grenade, call its separate supply drop and open the drop.
  3. Check the tracker afterward. Regular supply drops no longer count for this step; opening another player’s ordinary drop is not the stated solution.

Check the contract before you deploy

  1. Check the Monolith for the Investigation unlock you need. Unlocking a contract and selecting it as active are separate steps.
  2. Open Investigations and activate the contract. If all three active slots are occupied, deselect one before selecting another.
  3. Read the current objective for its location, target, weapon, interaction, and extraction requirement. Bring the relevant equipment.
  4. Select your own equipment rather than Provided Equipment. Choose a raid mode and location allowed by the actual objective.
  5. After performing the required action, check the tracker. If it explicitly requires extraction, keep the required item and extract before treating the step as complete.

Match the symptom to the next check

Nothing counts while using Provided Equipment.Change to a personal loadout for the next attempt. Do not repeat the same rental run expecting Investigation credit.

Extended Choice still seems to require a rental extraction.Use the objective shown after update 0.4.0.115: collect the marked item. An older guide describes a replaced step.

A teammate gets the kill and your neutralization does not count. For neutralization objectives, the official rule credits participants who hit the target within 20 seconds before its death. Standing nearby doesn’t count; also check the contract’s target and weapon restrictions.

The action appears complete, but the next objective has not started.Check whether this step requires extraction or another interaction, and confirm that this is the active contract. Investigations can contain sequential objectives.

Use the map marker, then the interaction prompt

In the Optics discussion, community manager MajorMcDonalds explains that Investigation targets are marked on the map. For its stairwell photo, the camera tooltip appears when you are close to the required spot. Use that prompt to confirm the position before taking the photo.

  1. Select the relevant Investigation and inspect its marked area on the map.
  2. At the building, check connected floors and stairwells for the required interaction or camera prompt.
  3. Confirm progress in the tracker before leaving the area. If the prompt never appears, recheck the active step and location rather than photographing arbitrary scenery.

Missing Trap: check inventory and your spawn

  1. Activate the correct capture contract and select personal equipment before deploying. Leave space for its supplied tool.
  2. At spawn, inspect your rig/pouch and backpack. If the Trap is absent, inspect the nearby-items list and ground before leaving. October 16 replies said inventory delivery was fixed, but an October 28 player still reported a missing Trap and replied “Got it” after ground-check advice. Do not rely on either location alone.
  3. Move the Trap to quick access and check its placement interaction before approaching the target. The October 15 Flowerman clip demonstrates placing a trap beneath an alarm flower and shooting the flower from a distance. It does not show extraction or the final contract count, and predates the .201 dash change.
  4. Read your contract’s capture and extraction conditions. If the tool is still absent or inaccessible, keep the contract, map and spawn details for a bug report; do not buy an unrelated item expecting it to replace the supplied Trap.

Use the current contract and raid indicators

  • Hover over a contract in the list: update .173 makes its map icons and zones pulse while dimming other contracts and map layers.
  • Open Raid icons are amber after .173. Read the subtype label as well as the color.
  • The Provided Equipment loadout check now lists selected Investigations that cannot be completed with that gear. Check that list before queueing.
  • Escape from Dogorsk can now count for Investigations that require visiting the standard Dogorsk raid, under .182. Other objective conditions still apply.
