Refiner Guide

Open Workshop, then Refiner to dismantle unwanted items into resources. Preview the output before confirming, and set aside anything needed for objectives, recipes, or your next raid. Fusion is in the Replicator, not the Refiner.

At a glance

  • Open Workshop > Refiner to dismantle unwanted items into Credits or Chronotraces.
  • Keep the first copy of an item until its recipe is unlocked and keep any copy required by an Investigation or Fusion recipe.
  • Preview the exact output and compare it with your active blueprint shortage before confirming dismantling.

How to dismantle items in the Refiner

  1. Set aside objective items, equipped gear, items with recipes you have not unlocked, and exact Fusion components. Do not include them in the dismantling batch.
  2. Open Workshop > Replicator first and note which Chronotrace types your chosen blueprint still needs.
  3. Switch to the Refiner sub-tab, place one candidate item, and read the output preview.
  4. Prefer items that supply a needed trace without removing your last usable weapon, medicine, armor, or recipe component.
  5. Confirm a small batch, check the resulting balance, then repeat only if the blueprint still needs more.
Keep protected items out of the Refiner. Preview surplus loot, confirm only if its output helps your goal, otherwise keep it. Refining consumes the input item.

Decision diagram: compare the output with your resource shortage before confirming. A valuable item is not automatically the right item to dismantle.

Decide what to keep and what to dismantle

Keep
Objective and Investigation itemsThe tracker requirement is more valuable than a generic resource return.
Keep
First extracted copy or exact Fusion componentVerify the recipe is unlocked and the component is not required before dismantling it.
Keep
Next-raid survival equipmentA replacement medkit, plate, magazine, or weapon can be more useful than traces.
Refine
Duplicate, unwanted, non-critical itemChoose it when the preview directly fills a blueprint shortage.

Avoid irreversible Refiner mistakes

You dismantled an objective item.Keep items needed for active Investigations separate from the items you plan to dismantle.

You refined many items but the blueprint barely moved.Check the required trace types first and process one previewed item at a time.

You destroyed your only copy of useful gear.Reserve one complete next-raid kit before converting surplus equipment.

You cannot find Fusion in the Refiner.Open Workshop > Replicator and use its dedicated Fusion slot.
